The Reading Room is located on the corner of Fayetteville St. and Hargett St. in downtown Raleigh, one block south of the Capitol. [Mapquest]
Free parking is often available on the street. Availability varies during the day. A parking deck (pay) is available with a one half-block walk to the Reading Room. Coming out of the pedestrian entrance on Fayetteville Street, turn left and walk one half-block.
From Mc Dowell St or Dawson St.: Turn East on Hargett. Proceed past Fayetteville St. to Wilmington Street. Turn Left onto Wilmington St. The deck is the first building on the left. The first driveway is the exit. The second driveway is the entrance. Stay on right side of the gates and take a ticket.
From Person St. or Blount St.: Turn West on Hargett. At Wilmington St, turn Right. The deck is the first building on the left. The first driveway is the exit. The second driveway is the entrance. Stay on right side of the gates and take a ticket.
Most of the parking spaces on the lower level are reserved (they will have a space number). Find a space that is not numbered.
